Monday Motivational Meditation Musings

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Monday. Urgghhh, Monday…

After an indulgent weekend it can be a slog to get back on the horse.

Some days, a meditation and yoga practice can be a bit of a job.

Especially Monday morning. Especially if the weekend was a bit… indulgent.

But don’t dismay, if there were a few sleep-ins and late nights and there is some lingering guilt, we are here to give you a pep-talk (we want to make sure your week starts off with a positive boost!)

Welcome to our first installment of our Monday Meditation Motivational Musings (MMMM!)

A job is technically something you do for money… something that you wouldn’t otherwise do…

Chances are you aren’t getting paid to meditate (is there even a thing as a pro meditator?!)

Though we may not get paid to sit and do nothing, I have received bountiful riches from the practice.

Peace. Balance. Equanimity.

To me, these are priceless…

Have you ever invested in your own wellbeing via a practice?

What are the benefits you have received for investing in your own wellbeing?

Have you ever said yes to you?

What were the outcomes?

I’m yet to have seen a downside to making my inner state a priority.

When I’m a happier and feeling comfortable in my own skin, my wife and kids certainly benefit.

As do people I speak to on the phone.

As are the other motorists on the road.

Literally, the world is a better place with me ‘on my game.’

And Monday is that day of the week where the Friday excitement seems the furthest away.

Except perhaps today (long live the King ;P !)

One of the biggest reasons we see people ‘fall off the wagon’ is self-imposed guilt around having ‘indulged’ in old vices or habits.

We are here to offer you a hand; please, under no circumstance, carry the feeling of guilt and shame around not doing what you know is good for you.

A harsh self-narrative is a pesky aspect of the mind. It only serves to keep you even further from being your more vibrant, chipper self.

Once the guilt of ‘not doing the thing’ sets in, it can quickly escalate. Don’t be surprised if 10 years goes by… like that.

How do we know this?

Most days we meet with students and prospective students alike, face to face on zoom, offering a space to guide, teach and share about what we do.

It gives us a great insight into people. The breadth and depth of experience levels out there is truly a joy to witness.

You’d be surprised at how common it is for people to know what is right for them, to build the courage to give it a go… and then something gets in the way.

Like an indulgent weekend. We see scores of people stop their practice and then start feeling guilty.

I know this all too well as I personally lived in this trap for decades.

To this day I am vigilant on my own tendency to chastise myself, for when it comes down to it, we are all human.

And humans err.

We make mistakes. We fall down. We relapse. We forget.

Which is why remembering the eternal truths is so vital.

Today we share the eternal truth that life is so much better with you in the world; wherever you are reading this from, be it a phone, a tablet, a computer on the other side of the world (or even sitting on the…)

We here at Kailash thank you for being a unique, beautiful part of this cosmos, warts and all.

We pray that your day, week, month and lifetime is filled with balance, equanimity and a deep inner sense of joy.

We pray that you find tenderness with yourself, and for you to treat yourself with the care you would a child.

We call this love.

We call this the Soul.

If your Soul is calling for your attention, we invite you to give yourself the space you need to hear it, see it, and feel it.

Only then will your Soul will be your Guru.

Much love (and reach out if you want to organise a time to chat!)
