Spring in the Grampians is truly a magical time of year.
Heath. Acacia. Eucalyptus and dozens of species erupt in an orgiastic, simultaneous blossoming.
The understory is still green and the scorched brown of summer seems a long way off.
Where has this colour been hiding?
Just a few weeks earlier, the bush feels flat. Non-descript spikey shrubs abound, often in excess.
As I found myself stopping to smell the flowers, a Yogic thought occurred to me.
We aren’t so different from the plants we admire.
How so?
Lurking within each and every one of us is a beauty and fragrance more impressive than any plant.
Though for much of life’s seasons, we can feel different. This is our shrub phase.
How do we, as Souls having a human experience, create the blossom of peace?
Yoga teaches us to garden, to tend to our mind-body system with care, love and the right balance of elements.
A stable foundation. (Earth)
Good company and light heartedness, play. (Water)
The warmth of light. (Fire)
A breath that gives to us and connects us to others. (Air)
Room to grow and simply be. (Space)
Combine it together, and the Yoga tells us that just like the shrub, we too will flower.
What lurks within can only be discovered through the unfolding of life, and we pray that this week your colour begins to shine.
